Overview of SIAM Student Chapter Activities

Purpose of SIAM:

• To further the application of mathematics to industry and science.
• To promote basic research in mathematics leading to new methods and techniques useful to industry and science.
• To provide media for the exchange of information and ideas between mathematicians and other technical and scientific personnel.

Purpose of the Chapter:

• Establishing and fostering links between students in applied mathematics within their department as well as in different departments and universities.
• Creating links between students and people working in engineering, physics, economics and industry.
• Promoting the applied mathematics groups in Prague and applied maths in general, mainly to younger students.
